Border Patrol Agent Julian LiDrazzah

(U.S. Customs and Border Protection, TX)

On April 11, 2014, Border Patrol Agent Julian LiDrazzah, responded to a group of 11 illegal aliens who were attempting to cross the Rio Grande River in the area of Eagle Pass, Texas. During this incident, Agent LiDrazzah risked his own life by entering unpredictable waters to rescue an exhausted mother and her child who he had observed disappear underwater about 25 yards from where he stood.

Recent heavy rain and flooding caused high water levels and a strong current, making the river more dangerous than usual. Without hesitation, Agent LiDrazzah jumped into the river and fought fierce currents to reach the mother and child, and he was able to pull them to shore.

Once back on shore, Agent LiDrazzah immediately administered emergency treatment to the frightened young child and distraught mother. Because of his quick, live-saving actions, they needed no further medical treatment.
